Ten of the

1. Millennium Dome in London,
build in 2000, designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership. The structure looks
like a large tent and has a diameter of 365 m. You can use the Airfare Search

2. The Serpentine Pavilion, built
in London 2002 was designed by Toyo Ito, with Cecil Balmond serving as chief
engineer. Most believe the most modern architecture to be of the future. The
building is said to create an illusion where boundaries appear to disappear.

3. Blur, Expo 02,
Yverdon-les-Bains, 2002 was designed by New York architects Diller and Scofidio
and is extremely popular at the Expo 02 in Switzerland. The building, made of
ensile steel, 20m high and 100m long, sits over Lake Neuchatel. This structure
is said to be amazing and well worth the visit. You can find the lowest

4. 30 St Mary Axe, in London,
built in 2003 brings a whole new look to the architecture world in London. Norman
foster’s Gherkin is said to be love by many and disliked by others. This is a
definite building and design to visit alone with the ancient artitectural
designs when visiting London.
5. Also at the top of the list of
top modern designs is the European Southern Observatory Hotel, in Cerro
Paranal, Chile. Built in 2003, the hotel for astronomers is an exciting
architecture design which displays geometric red concrete walls. This unique
structure was designed by Auer and Weber of Munich, with engineers from Mayr
and Ludescher.

6. Next on the list, is the
Beijing National Stadium which was built in 2008. The stadium holds 80,000 and
was designed by the Swiss Architects firm, Herzog and de Meuron, using the
Chinese artist, Ai Weiwel. This magnificent building was the highlight of the
2008 Olympics. The entire structure resembles that of a “bird nest” and
definitely should be on an the “to see” list for architecture enthusiast.

7. Again, we have London on the
list, with the St. Pancras Station built in 2007. This is a railway terminal
which you don’t want to miss when you are visiting London. This complex is not
yet completed.


8. The first bridge on the list
of the top 10 greatest modern architectural designs is Le Viaduc de Millau, in
Aveyron, in southern France. The bridge was completed in 2004 and was designed
by the engineer Michel Virlogeux and Norman Foster. Finding the best airfares

9. In incorporating the old with
the new, British architect, David Chipperfield re-created the Neues Museum in
Berlin which re-opened in 2009. The combination of the old building which was
closed in 1939 comes to life with the new technology and modern design. We must
say there are many more ancient and breath taking architectural designs in
Germany.

10. Last on our list, but certainly not least is the world’s tallest buildings in Dubai. Burj Dubai was designed by Adrian
Smith and Bill Baker of Chicago. The building has 160 storey of hotel rooms,
alone with apartments and high rise offices. There is no doubt that
architectural enthuism will want to jet off to Dubai and view this amazing
