Thanks to the US Army and my ex-husband I was
able to live and travel Europe for a year. During my travels
then and much later, I always felt that the locals in these foreign
countries knew more about "my history" then I knew about myself
and my country. I especially got this feeling in Cairo, Egypt. So with
each International Travel trip, I have recognized that I needed
to learn more about me, my country and my ancestors.
Thirty years after living in Europe, I finally can travel into
foreign countries and feel confident about who I am and my
history, the history of the US (as it relates to the world) and
my ancestors history. (Thats why the slogan for
www.travel360degrees is
Travel is
Education at Its Best)
Now, when I travel my eyes meet with the eyes of the locals and
we seem to know the same things. Certain knowledge, on
occasion, has made me hang my head in shame, but only for a few
seconds, being from the US is a blessing. When you travel to
third world countries and go off the tourist path (best to do
with a group) and see the real status of these countries, you
develop a sense of gratefulness for the US.
During my years of travel, I have expressed to many people
around me that the world appears to be hiding information from
Americans and they are more then willing to share the
information if we would just get off the couch and take the time
to visit their countries.
My trip to Egypt proved my theory correct, they shared more
information then I could handle at one time. The Egyptian Tour
provided an Egyptologist who provided our Tour Group with
education, information and sights.
The problem occurred, when their information and tourist sights did not co-inside with what I
had been lead to believe. This meant I had to research the facts.
Research has taken me to Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe and
deeper into Africa. There is a lot more research to do.
Every travel journey is a quest for knowledge. (My writing
instructor would say that I must elaborate on the above
paragraph No can do! Its something you have to experience for
yourself )
