Squaw Valley Skiing in May - New and Slightly Used Ski Equipment

By: Cassandra Ingraham

Yes, it is true, we were actually skiing in California at Squaw Valley (Host for the 1960 Olympic Winter Games ) the last week of May, 2006.  There were 5 runs open and except for the strong wind up top, the weather was beautiful.

Squaw Valley opened in 1949 with one chair lift, a rope tow, and a lodge. Today, Squaw Valley USA is one of the world's premier destination resorts with year-round recreation and first-class accommodations

However, skiing on Memorial Day weekend was not nearly as exciting as walking pass one of the ski shops and seeing one year old skis for sale at  50% off.

The retail sales person gave me the shop's card and said they have these sales every year at the end of the season.  I asked him did they tell anyone, he said "not really"  They just put the skis outside the front door,  attached a hand written sign and watch people walk from the parking lot of Squaw Valley to the Gondola.

People who truly understand the value stop and purchase!  It takes a certain type of consumer to purchase skies at the end of ski season. Its the same type of consumer who purchases next year's Christmas cards in January when they are on sale for 50% off. Have you seen the prices of those NEW Atomic, Dynastar, Rossignol, Salomon, Volkl or K2 skies?  You can visit the Inn Shop of Squaw Valley at  http://www.innshop.com
