Discover Cabo San Lucas

By: T360 Staff

The water was to shallow and the mega ton ship could not pull directly into the small port of Cabo San Lucas, however, just viewing the island from my stateroom created a sense of excitement about seeing this much talked about town.  Once the ship had anchored, the ship tenders were used to take passengers back and forth from the ship to this small famous town.

Cabo San Lucas occupies the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula.  The town is connected to neighboring San Jose del Cabo by a 20 mile stretch of highway called the Corridor; the two towns together are referred to as Los Cabos.

The sun shines an average of 350 days a year.  The climate is usually dry.  Temperatures range between 80 degrees and 90 degrees year round.

The official currency of Los Cabos is the Mexican peso.  The US dollar and major credit cards and traveler's checks are widely accepted.

Taxis are usually eight-seat vans, and the drivers speak limited English.  Agree on a fare before getting into the taxi.

The population is around 41,000.  The Los Cabos region is undeniably one of the most rapidly growing areas in Mexico. It is comprised of historic, colonial San Jose del Cabo to the east, and thriving Cabo San Lucas to the west, and connected by the twenty-mile Tourist Corridor. It is astonishing to view the recent evolution of vacation travel and tourism within this quaint region of Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Recommended shipping in Cabo San Lucas is what else? Diamonds and gemstones, arts and crafts, sterling silver jewelry and leather.
